What is Music for you?

Eleusis, in collaboration with Eleusis 2021 European Capital of Culture participates for the 3rd consecutive year in the great celebration of Music, filling the city’s streets, squares and parks with music for everyone!

The 19th edition of the European Music Day returns to Greece, giving everyone the opportunity to participate actively in the country’s most melodious cultural event. From 21 until 23 June we celebrate, in a big four-day party based on… (what else?) Music!

But, what exactly is music? Is it the heartbeat, the steps on the street, a gig, the rhythm, the communication, the noise of the city, throwing a pebble in the sea, the bass speakers, a party on the terrace? The silence. Everything and nothing. Everything around us that progresses, matures, evolves. Music is so much more than just genres; it remains perpetual in time and makes sure that both beautiful and bad times synchronise in its melodies. People need music and music needs people.

This is the thinking behind the European Music Day, which is a means to sharing our thoughts, ideas and stories about what music is.

The Pan-Hellenic Open Call for participating at the European Music Day 2018 events began, and for the first time it is only carried out electronically, with a single mechanism for collecting proposals for all the cities of the EMD Greek Network!
